Where did Ranch Dressing come from

Ranch dressing is one of the best dips for the Super Bowl.
It is totally american. It is well known in the United States but not so around the world.
“Ranch dressing is common in the United States as a dip for raw vegetables such as broccoli, carrots and celery as well as for chips and “bar foods” such as french fries and chicken wings. It is also a common dipping sauce for fried foods such as fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, fried pickles, jalapeno poppers, onion rings, chicken fingers, and hushpuppies. In addition, ranch dressing is used on pizza, pickles, baked potatoes, wraps, tacos, pretzels, and hamburgers” (wikipedia, 2017.)
Ranch dressing was invented in the early 1950s by Steve Henson and his wife Gayle at Hidden Valley Ranch, a dude ranch near Santa Barbara, California, where they served it to guests. It became so popular that they made the mix that we still use today. The rest of these facts come from thrillist.
The average American consumes salad dressing 38 times a year.
Fifteen of those 38 are served up with ranch dressing. Yes, you already knew ranch is popular, but did you know that it is by far the most consumed dressing in the United States? Italian dressing comes in a pathetic second and is eaten six out of 38 times. Not even close.
A pizza place charges $1000 for a side of ranch. no one orders it because it is a bit much.
Dear Lester’s Fixins Soda, what were you thinking inventing Ranch flavored soda? Who would order that and who would consume that.
Did you know that Hidden Valley Ranch has developed over 70 different varieties of ranch dressing since that first flavor?
The top four include The Original Ranch, followed by Avocado Ranch, Cucumber Ranch, and Bacon Ranch. Crazier flavors over the years include Pizza and Taco Flavored Ranch. And that’s just Hidden Valley. Vegan Ranch is definitely also a thing.
Look at the cash ranch cow. Hidden Valley Ranch sold $440 million worth of salad dressing last year. A restaurant has a Ranch issue.
twisted RAnCh in St. Louis, MO was founded on a deep, passionate, perhaps excessive, love for ranch dressing. Not only does the restaurant use ranch as a prominent component in every dish on the menu, but at any given time it has over 23 house-made varieties of the dressing. And yes, it even makes dessert with the stuff: bread pudding with the classic House Ranch. ___
